Winners of EU Ecolabel Communication Awards, announced by European Commision
The European Commission announced the winners of the 2010 EU Ecolabel Communication Awards, that recognizes exceptional promotional activities to increase public awareness of the EU Ecolabel – the EU’s label for environmentally-friendly goods and services.
The three winners, selected by a jury of environmental and communication experts, were revealed at a ceremony in Brussels.
Portuguese hotel, Jardim Atlântico from Madeira, won the service provider category, being praised for its campaign to raise awareness of the EU Ecolabel using different types of media and activities involving the local community.
Two organisations were named joint winners in the producer/retailer category: Paris-based manufacturer of recycled paper Arjowiggins Graphic, singled out for its world-wide campaign promoting the EU Ecolabel, and Sara Lee Corporation, with international headquarters in the Netherlands, for the promotion of its ecolabelled shower gel product line.
The EU Ecolabel – the only pan-European environmental label – aims to encourage the production and consumption of green products and services across the EU and beyond.
