Radio Deutsche Welle ceased its activities in Romania
Radio Deutsche Welle ceased its broadcasts in Romanian starting January 1st, after rennouncing to its audiovisual licence in 2011’s summer.
The cease of ‘s radio broadcasts in Romanian comes after half of century since starting its activity in this language, on August 19th 1963.
The decision of closing the Romanian radio service was taken by Deutsche Welle almost 4 years after BBC Romania and Radio Europa Libera closed their Romanian language services.
BBC World Service closed the Romanian redaction, BBC Romania, starting August 1st 2008, after 68 years of activity. A similar decision was taken starting the same date (August 1st 2008) also by Radio Europa Libera, after 60 years of activity.
