Romanian magazine Dilema Veche introduces paywall for its online edition
Romanian magazine Dilema Veche decided to introduce a paywall for its online version starting March 2012.
Starting February 15th, Dilema Veche’s website will give to the interested readers a period of 30 days of free access if they make a digital subscription for a month.
Only 15-20% from site’s content will be free after introducing the paywall.
According Mircea Vasilescu, editor in chief Dilema Veche, to maintain full access for free for a site such as www.dilemaveche.ro, that offers quality content, is something not to be found anywhere else.
Magazine’s website will be “a combination between free and paid content. A part of the content will continue to be accesible to everyone. The readers will be able to post comments on articles without paying, as it happened also before. The people that make subscriptions will be able to access the entire content (text, audio, video), the archives and, of course, the exclusive new content, that will be enriched (…) Also, the monthly supplement Dilemateca will be integrally available online for subscribers (…), accordin to Vasilescu.
The access on www.dilemaveche.ro will be based on digital subscription of Euro 3/month and Euro 21/year starting March 15th. The payment can be made online and not only. Also, subscribers to the print edition for 3, 6 or 12 months will receive a digital subscription for the same period of time.
The Romanian magazine announced since mid-2011 the intention to introduce paywall to its online content.
The decision to introduce paywall is a rare one on Romanian market, as there are only a few specialized websites that have this fee, such as Ziarul Financiar.
