Interfax most frequently sourced news agency in Russia and abroad in 2011

Interfax has once again been named Russia’s most frequently cited news agency both domestically and abroad, according to a survey based on two major global media databases – Factiva (31,000 leading sources of political and business information) and LexisNexis (over 35,000 foreign sources of information), in addition to SCAN (System for Comprehensive Analysis of News – 4,167 sources) – Interfax was the most often-cited of all Russian news agency both at home and abroad in 2011.

The survey covered reference frequency rating in the international media in 2011 for the three major Russian news and information agencies – Interfax, RIA-Novosti and ITAR-TASS, and covered major international information agencies including Reuters, Dow Jones, AP, AFP, EFE, and Xinhua.

Information agencies’ reference frequency in the Russian media was based on the SCAN database and involved eight major information agencies working in Russia: Interfax, RIA-Novosti, ITAR-TASS, Reuters, Prime, RosBusinessConsulting (RBC), Regnum, and Rosbalt.
