Romanian State TV launched TVRPlus.ro, in beta version
Romanian State TV TVR launched the beta version for tvrplus.ro, a platform that offers viewers the possibility to view live, online, all the 7 TV channels of the Romanian state TV. Also, viewers can watch, over the internet, archive editions for almost 60 different shows broadcasted by TVR 1, TVR 2 and TVR Cultural for which Romanian State TV has the online broadcasting rights.
Migration towards online and adapting to a new video consumption pattern is a strategical objective for Romanian public TV (…) TVR’s successes in webcasting, both for George Enescu Festival and Eurovision, when Romania was in European top 5 as audience over the internet with the national selection convinced us that we are on the right way. Developing and connecting to the future is more than a need. It can save public TV on long term
Alexandru Lazescu
President General Director TVR
The list of shows available on tvrplus.ro will increase in the following weeks; we are already preparing a lot of shows already broadcasted over TVR Info, TVR 3 and TVR International
Dorian Stoica
Project Manager TVRplus.ro
TVRPlus.ro has a team of 4 journalists and, according to Stoica, the mission in the following weeks will be enriching the collections from TVR archives in order to offer access to shows that made history to Romanian internet users.
TVRPlus.ro portal, launched under the slogan “You have what to see”, is a project of TVR Interactiv department and was developed together with DirectOne, a company selected last year following a pitch. According to the contract, the platform development doesn’t generate financial obligations for TVR, the partnership being a revenue share one.
Romanian public TV has now, with tvrplus.ro, an instrument to answer properly the internet generated media consumption culture. It is a valuable instrument and is created for people that will decide on their own where, when and how to watch a certain show
Mona Dirtu
Director TVR Interactiv
Following the news portal (tvrinfo.ro), the websites dedicated to Eurovision and EURO 2012 and the video portal, TVR will launch, in the next month, another 2 online projects: a new corporate website and one dedicated to the Olympic Games.
