Appscend Romania, among finalists at Webit StartUp Challenge 2012
Webit Congress has announced the Webit StartUp Challenge 2012 Winners, with Romanian Appscend project being among finalists.
503 startup companies from 52 countries applied and took part in 2012 Challenge. Because organizers received a big number of entries from participants, they had to organize two rounds of judging: first in which jury selected 18 finalists and 31 semi-finalists and second – where the 31 semifinalists were challenged to demonstrate their marketing capabilities and to motivate as many people as possible in order to vote for them. The top three projects with most votes after 1 week of voting won the status of finalists.
The main goal of the Webit StartUp Challenge is to promote the entrepreneurial spirit among EMEA emerging markets and to help free the “genie from the bottle”. We want to help the young people of the emerging markets to acquire the courage to follow their dreams and to help them achieve them by meeting them with the leaders of the world digital and technology ecosystem, with potential partners, investors and mentors. The entrepreneurs should understand that if they haven’t failed they haven’t tried hard enough and should not be afraid of the failure. I am happy we have motivated such a big number of startups from all around EMEA and rest of the world to take part at Webit StartUp Challenge 2012 and to overcome the fear of failure. We gave all the participants an equal start and a great opportunity to present their projects in front of hundreds of thousands visitors on our web site and at Webit Congress. This gives us the confidence that we are on the right way and I personally feel very happy and thank my team and the jury for the job well done
