Spikes Asia honored its 2012 winners
Winners of the Spikes Asia 2012 Awards have been announced during an Awards Ceremony which took place at the Grand Theatre Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.
Ten juries have been working in Singapore to choose 397 deserving winners from a total of 4,860 entries in the competition.
Within the new category this year, Branded Content & Entertainment , there were 17 winners (1 Grand Prix, 1 Gold, 9 Silver, 6 Bronze), with the Grand Prix going to Host Sydney (Australia) and Air New Zealand for “The Kiwi Sceptics”.
Another new category was Creative Effectiveness, with 4 winners and the Grand Prix going to Clemenger BBDO Melbourne (Australia) and Nab for “Break Up”
In the other categories, the winners are as it follows:
Design – 28 winners (1 Grand Prix, 4 Gold, 8 Silver, 15 Bronze); GP went to Iyamadesign Tokyo and Kamoi Kakoshi, Mt Ex Taipei
Digital – 29 winners (1 Grand Prix, 4 Gold, 12 Silver, 12 Bronze) and Dentsu Tokyo and Honda Motor took Grand Prix for “Connecting Lifelines”
Direct – 28 winners (1 Grand Prix, 6 Gold, 11 Silver, 10 Bronze) with Grand Prix: JWT Melbourne, Australia, Melbourne Writers Festival, “Wi-Fiction”
Film – 43 winners (1 Grand Prix, 10 Gold, 18 Silver, 14 Bronze) and Grand Prix: Cheil Worldwide Seoul, South Korea, Amsung Electronics, ‘What Does Your Mind See’
Film – 23 winners (3 Gold, 7 Silver, 13 Bronze)
Integrated – 8 winners (2 Gold, 2 Silver, 4 Bronze)

Radio – 17 winners (1 Grand Prix, 3 Gold, 5 Silver, 8 Bronze); Grand Prix: JWT Singapore, Singapore, Unilever Singapore, ‘Radio Prank’
Also, BBDO got Network of the Year trophy, with DDB coming second and Leo Burnett – third. DDB Sydney was honoured with the Agency of the Year, surpassing Dentsu Tokyo and BBDO Guerrero Makati City.
The Independent Agency of the Year was awarded to Party Tokyo, in a run up for the award that included Taproot Mumbai and The Monkeys Sydney.
Inaugural Spikes Palm award, for best Production Company, went to Exit Films Melbourne, with Revolver Sydney – 2nd and Finch Sydney – 3rd. Media Agency of the Year trophy was claimed by Mindshare Mumbai, surpassing Cheil Worldwide Seoul and Whybin\TBWA Group Sydney.
1,800 delegates from 27 countries have enjoyed three days of inspiring content, have viewed great work, and participated in fun networking events.
Building on 25 years of the illustrious Spikes Awards, the Spikes Asia Festival of Creativity is the result of a collaboration between the Lions Festivals, organisers of Cannes Lions, Dubai Lynx and Eurobest, and Haymarket, publishers of Campaign Asia Pacific. The Festival provides the region’s growing creative and advertising industry with a platform to network and exchange ideas, bringing together some of the finest creative thinkers from across the region and around the world.
Spikes Asia, attended by over 1,700 delegates in 2011, offers a challenging programme of seminars and workshops focusing on creativity and learning, exhibitions of creative work from Asia Pacific, networking events in the evening and the Spikes Asia Awards show.
The Awards, judged by leading international and regional creatives, honour the best creative work in the categories of Film, Print, Outdoor, Radio, Digital, Integrated, Direct, Promo & Activation, Media, Print Craft, Film Craft, Design, Mobile, PR, Branded Content & Entertainment and Creative Effectiveness.
