UPDATED: Gabriela Lungu, juror at Dubai Lynx: „I like judging, you learn a lot while doing it”
Gabriela Lungu, that founded Romanian The Practice and became, recently, Executive Vice President and EMEA consumer practice leader within Weber Shandwick, is the juror that will represent Romania at Dubai Lynx this year.
Related to the juror role, Gabriela says she is anxious as it is a role that she likes, as judging is a process you can learn a lot.
AdHugger: You are again juror for Romania in an international competition. How do you feel being in this role again?
Gabriela Lungu: I’m anxious. It is a role I like a lot, because judging is a process one has a lot to learn from; it means getting through tens of cases, analyzing and evaluating them, discussing them with the other jurors. And the jury this year is an exceptional one. I personally know 2 of the jurors: with Tom Beckman I was in Cannes jury and I know Paul Baeyaert from Weber Shandwick… I can’t wait for March!
AdHugger: How does this jury challenge comes for you, as you just made recently a career change that offers you a PR vision on regional level?
Gabriela Lungu: At the right time. I coordinate EMEA on Consumer PR and MENA (the region covered by Dubai Lynx) is part of the region. I will have the incredible chance to see the professional level of the regional offices and to understand the specific of the campaigns. It will be very useful to me.
AdHugger: Which are the criteria you will apply during the judging process?
Gabriela Lungu: The ones that will be communicated to us by organizers, as each competition has its criteria. Of course, I expect to be very similar to the ones from Cannes Lions (as Lions Festivals organizes both festivals), which means 30% for each strategy and creativity and 20% each for implementation and results.
AdHugger: Dubai Lynx comes with a different cultural charge compared to Europe. What do you expect to see in the cases the jury will evaluate?
Gabriela Lungu: I’m expecting work of international level, but with ideas full of local color. I wish and expect to feel the cultural richness and diversity of the region within the PR campaigns.
Also, on the jury duty, Gabriela Lungu appreciated the role Teodora Migdalovici has in the appointment of Romanian representatives in international juries.
I would like to sincerely and enthusiastically thank Teodora. Without her and her patriotic, constant and clever lobby, it’s hard to believe that Romania would be so often present in those juries. I am very honored she proposed me again for this role

When I received the invitation to recommend a new Romanian juror for The Dubai Lynx evaluation panel in PR, my first thought was in the Gabriela Lungu’s favor. I knew about the recent performances of the agency and I knew she did a great job as a juror in Cannes, few years ago. The ultimate proof that my choice was right ? Her new position in one of the most appraised PR networks of the moment. I have no doubt she will do a great job, both as a Romanian and as a world citizen of the PR planet
