Start Mobile 2013, organized by Google and IAB Romania, ready to announce its winners

Google Romania, in partnership with IAB Romania, announce Start Mobile Gala 2013, an event during which digital agencies that created the most numerous and efficient mobi-sites for Romanian companies will be awarded.

Start Mobile is an annual competition targeting Romanian digital agencies and encourages developing mobi-sites for local companies, as part as Google Romania’s initiative to inform and educate on online mobile traffic increase  at local level and on the fact the companies need to adapt to the new paradigms when it comes of browsing the internet.

We initiated this contest to stimulate the interest when it comes of creating mobi-sites, as part of a positive experience for Romanian mobile devices user. The companies must take in consideration more and more websites’ optimization in order to better interact with their publics and to adapt to their habits and needs

According to a recent edition of Mediascope, 45% Romanians own phones with access to the internet; 14% from Romanian smartphone users are accessing on the weekly basis websites from their mobile device, while 23% do so on daily basis. When it comes of time spent online from the mobile, Romanians are online 5.4 days out of 7. They prefer to use their mobiles for e-mailing, buying vouchers, seeing ads, browsing social networks and so on.

As studies show that European and Romanian consumers are migrating more and more towards mobile, it was normal for us to get involved, together with Google Romania, in the Start Mobile project. We are preoccupied by the way online changes and evolves and also the interaction between users and this channel and we wish to support all educational initiatives targeting companies in oreder to offer a more positive navigation experience to the consumers

During the gala there will be selected 6 winners, with the first 3 having the opportunity to visit Android HQ in California. The next 3 will be awarded Android tablets. The winners of the competition will be announced during the Gala, on July 15th.
