Deloitte: Five Romanian companies in Technology Fast 500 EMEA 2013
Romania has registered a new performance this year, securing five companies in the Deloitte Technology FAST 500 EMEA 2013 ranking, compared to four companies in 2011 and 2012: Vola.ro (ranked 17), TeamNet International (217), Crys Computers (333), SmartTel (487), and Fortech (491).
Now in its 13th year, the annual program includes the fastest growing technology, media, telecommunications, life sciences, and clean technology companies from 24 countries in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region, based on percentage revenue growth over a five-year period. The 2013 list had an overall average revenue growth rate of 1,403 percent, a slight decrease from the 1,549 percent growth rate registered last year. The current edition of the program received more than 1,000 submissions.
The Deloitte Technology Fast 500 is the most objective industry-ranking standard to focus on the technology sector. Entrants to the ranking must have been in business at least five years and have had base-year operating revenues of at least 50,000 Euro and current year operating revenues of at least 800,000 Euro.
French digital cinema specialists YMagis secured the top spot in the ranking, with an impressive growth rate of 59,096 percent. The leader of the previous edition is also a French-based company named Criteo, that saw an outstanding 202,100% growth in revenues between 2007-2011.
Top 10 ranked companies
France had a strong presence with two companies in this year’s top ten ranking. Israel also had significant presence with three companies placing in the top ten.
Geographic trends
Overall, France remains the most represented country for a third consecutive year, followed by the United Kingdom and Sweden.
Sector trends
The software sector represented 43% of the overall rankings on this year’s FAST 500, followed by the Internet sector with 22%. Rounding out the sector list was Telecommunications/ Networking (15%), Semiconductors/ Components/ Electronics (7%), Biotech/ Pharmaceutical/ Medical Equipment (5%), Greentech (3%), Media/ Entertainment (3%), and Computers/ Peripherals (2%).
