Lidl scans kisses also offline, with Lidl’s Valentine Kiss
After launching the online app that scans kisses, Lidl went further, launching in 2 Bucharest subway stations Lidl’s Valentine Kiss, the offline version of the app that can be accessed on Lidl Romania’s online channels (Facebook, dedicated website) and via dedicated versions for Android and iOS.
Between 6-17 February, the lovers can scan their kisses in one of the 2 Lidl cabins. Because love is in the air, Lidl aims to find it in the subway, in Unirii 2 and Victoriei 2 stations. In the mentioned stations, the couples have access to 2 cabins where they scan their kiss and receive, in exchange, a sweet present (chocolates or plush toys).
Opened from 6am to 11 pm, the cabins will scan kisses, using an algorithm that decomposes the users’ videos in couple key frames. They are analyzed by app’s system. Using a face detector, the lovers’ faces are identified and, if the faces are partially overpassing each other, a kiss is identified. Around 700 couples already scanned their kisses in the Lidl cabins.
The action is an offline extension of Lidl Kiss, app based on face recognition technology. Lidl Kiss campaign is simultaneously implemented in 24 European countries.
