3 Romanian agencies scooped 4 trophies at Clio 2014
McCann Erickson Bucharest, Ogilvy Romania and GMP Group Romania are the Romanian agencies that got accolades at this year’s edition of Clio Awards.
McCann got 2 awards, a Silver in Direct and a Bronze in PR with “Bucharest not Budapest” for ROM (Kandia Dulce), GMP came back home with a Silver in PR for “Why don’t you come over?” for Gandul.info, while Ogilvy & Mather scooped a Bronze in Film with “The Miracle” for Anim’est.
McCann’s winning campaign are already multi-awarded in international festivals, and Clio accolades add to the recognition.
Clio says it is “the world’s most recognized international awards competition for advertising”. If they are or not better than Cannes Lions, only Bernbach knows, but for sure they are severe. It is hard to win there, at least for Romania. Let’s not forget American ROM didn’t get anything there. And that while it was scooping 9 Lions in Cannes.
So it is only normal to be happy for the 2 awards – Bronze and Silver.
It is the first time when McCann Bucharest wins at Clio and the aparently it is also the first time when a Romanian campaign is awarded 2 prizes there.
So Hooray! for “Bucharest, not Budapest“, as Bucharest is celebrating 555 years since founding
Sebastian Olar,
Group Creative Director McCann Bucharest
Also a winner at Clio was “Why Don’t You Come Over?” campaign, made by GMP Group (GMP, Webstyler and GMP PR) for Gândul.info. GMP’s campaign scooped Silver in “Crisis & Issues Management” category.
Clio is the most important American festival which gathers, annually, the best campaigns in the world and the most prestigious juries. This year, Romania broke the ice at Clio. I am happy we managed to get a Silver while facing a very strong competition and I would remind here only the projects Road to Recovery or Linesmen for Peace, in the same category
Mihai Gongu,
Creative Director GMP Advertising.
In 2013, GMP Advertising, Webstyler and GMP PR signed “Why Don’t You Come Over?” as response to British government’s initiative to start a campaign to discourage Romanian immigrants. In just two weeks, the campaign spread all over the world and achieved remarkable results.
In 2013, the campaign gathered a lot of prizes, among which the most important are Grand Prix in PR at Eurobest, Grand Prix in Digital Campaigns at Golden Drum and the best campaign in the region at European Excellence Awards.
A third Romanian agency was on the Clio’s winners list this year: Ogilvy&Mather Romania scooped a Bronze in Film with “Miracle for Anim’Est 2013
I am extremely happy that all the efforts related to this project made during the last years were repaid with this Clio prize, in a category where it isn’t very easy to win, Film
