LIA announces Regional ‘Of The Year’ awards to recognize the best in each region
London International Awards (LIA) is proud to announce that in addition to its Global ‘Of the Year’ awards, it will be introducing Regional ‘Of the Year’ awards. Like the Global ‘Of the Year’ awards, winners are based on a point system. The regions recognized will be: Oceania (Australia and New Zealand), Asia, Europe, Middle East/Africa, North America and South America.
Over the past few years, LIA has had many requests to add regional award competitions. After much discussion, LIA decided it would not be prudent to add new competitions that compete with already established local and regional shows. Hence LIA has decided to break out our global winners and honor them by region. In speaking with industry professionals around the world, it was determined that winning a Regional ‘Of the Year’ award from a global festival would be a higher honor than winning a local/regional show.
“Companies enter awards to promote themselves to brands, the more awards you win, the more clients you attract. Winning a coveted “Of the Year” winged statue in your own region will give you the recognition you deserve in the eyes of not just your peers, but also current and potential clients,” explained Barbara Levy, President of LIA.
The regional awards will mirror the same company types as our global awards. LIA will potentially award statues for the following Regional ‘Of the Year’ Awards inclusive of but not limited to: Network of the Year, Agency, Production Company, Post-Production Company, Design Company, Independent Agency, Radio & Audio and Health Company of the Year.
‘Of the Year’ Awards are calculated based on what is populated in the company credit fields. The city must be included when relevant. LIA uses all company credit fields when calculating points regardless of entering company, media or category. Like the global ‘Of the Year’, awards are discretionary based on the number of points attained; there is no guarantee that we will award all ‘Of the Year’ types in all regions.
Perhaps, Ralph van Dijk of Eardrum, Sydney, can best sum up this latest initiative for the industry in this quote “To win bragging rights as best in class within your own market will be a very useful marketing tool. Another excellent innovation from LIA.”
The Entry System is open for entries. The initial entry deadline is the 12th June.
London International Awards (LIA) is a global festival honoring creativity and new ideas in Advertising, Production, Digital, Design, Music & Sound and Technology. The awards, founded in 1986 by President Barbara Levy, began by honoring advertising in the realms of Cinema, Television, Print and Radio worldwide, evolving since its inception into 19 unique media types. It was the first truly international advertising awards of its kind to acknowledge all media and methods from all over the world to be judged by a diverse global jury. Every member on each Jury Panel, including the Jury President, judges all entries, excluding their own work, in their respective media. Each Jury has the discretion to award a Grand LIA within the media they are judging.
