McCann Worldgroup Romania – the only agency in Romania to win at Cannes Lions 2019
McCann Worldgroup Romania’s team was one of the 6 teams from all over the world that made it into the finals of the Hackathon and spent a week in Cannes, together with experts from Amazon and Huge and global influencers. The team participated to hacking sessions and developed together innovative solutions to solve global problems with help from technology.
The proposal formulated by the Romanian team incorporated gaming and real-time monitoring elements, who bring together ordinary people and researchers, in a common effort to protect insects in danger of extinction.
The campaign from McCann Worldgroup Romania that won accolades in Cannes were “Internet’s Residency Exam” for Regina Maria Health Network, developed together with McCann PR and “Tecsesti Vlogs” for Albalact, developed together with MRM//McCann Romania.
“Internet’s Residency Exam” received Silver in PR, while “Tecsesti Vlogs” scooped a Bronze in Social & Influencers.
Besides the awards and the nominations with the winning campaigns, McCann Worldgroup Romania had other 4 shortlists with 2 different campaigns:
- Half Full (Coca-Cola) – 3 shortlists in Direct and Brand Experience
- Bihor Couture (Beau Monde) – shortlisted in eCommerce
35 awards in 9 consecutive years.
I am proud of the constant performance we have, it has behind a lot of work.
I am proud because it is, first and foremost, a success of a culture in which each contributes in its own way, people are motivating each other and they always want to make more. That is what we are building every year.
I am proud that, although this year we scooped 2 awards, we were shortlisted with 4 different campaigns. I am proud of our ambitious clients and the trust they have in us. We are challenging each other and end up doing courageous things

During the last few years, Albalact got involved in supporting the community from this little authentic mountain village, that lays in 20 km distance from our factory.
