KPMG in Romania appoints two new partners
Gabriel Mihai Tănase, Partner, Technology & Cyber Security, and Horațiu Mihali, Audit Partner, will join KPMG in Romania’s partners team from 1 October. The new promotions announced by KPMG in Romania reflect our trust in the success of the Romanian business environment and in Gabriel’s and Horatiu’s abilities to transform new challenges into opportunities for our clients.
Horațiu Mihali, Audit Partner, and coordinator of KPMG’s office in Cluj-Napoca, has more than 15 years of professional experience in managing audits for numerous Romanian companies, as well as for international groups, mostly based in Transylvania. He has played a key role in the rapid expansion of KPMG’s Cluj Napoca office, which recently moved to new, larger premises, as a reflection of the firm’s confidence in this city which is proving an increasingly popular hub for growing Romanian businesses.
Throughout his career, Horațiu has participated in financial audit projects, IT systems audits, ERP implementation reviews and internal controls optimizations. Horatiu is experienced in transactions on the US capital markets, and has participated as auditor in the listing process for a foreign company on the New York stock exchange. He is an active member of the business community in Cluj and plays an important role in supporting new foreign investors, as well as the prestigious academic community of the city. Horatiu is a graduate of the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca and a member of ACCA and CAFR.
“In a business environment that is changing faster than ever under the pressure of disruptive technologies, the auditor’s role has become increasingly important to assist organizations in understanding and managing risk in the new global economy, achieve the expected results and continuously innovate to obtain added value”, explains Horațiu. “I am confident in the continuous development of Cluj and Transylvania and that the firm will continue on the growth path, offering high-quality services to our clients”, he adds.
With more than 17 years of experience in KPMG, Gabriel Mihai Tănase, Partner, Technology & Cyber Security, manages KPMG’s tech and cyber security services, one of the most dynamic and complex fields in Romania. Gabriel has several specialized certifications, including CISA. He is a member of ISACA, as well as holding other technical certifications for his area of expertise, and is one of the most qualified and experienced specialists in Romania.
“Given the challenges brought by new technologies, such as artificial intelligence, digitalization, automation of business processes, and the pressure of cyber threats generated by the ever-growing presence of technology in all personal and professional sides of life, the experience and know-how accumulated are essential to the continuous development of this specialized line of services within Advisory, along with the growth of new highly specialized services. In this evolving environment, where flexibility and quick reaction to change are paramount to our clients, I am looking forward to continuing to coordinate an extraordinary team of professionals in my new role, and to transforming challenges into opportunities”, says Gabriel.
