Cheil Romania’s Roxana Nita is the only Eastern European creative selected in the 2020-2021 Cannes Lions See It Be It programme
Roxana Nita, Group Creative Director at Cheil | Centrade Romania, is one of the 15 women selected for the Cannes Lions See It Be It (SIBI) programme for 2020-2021.
Roxana was chosen from over 800 applicants worldwide and is one of only two applicants from the European Union to win a place on the scheme, which has been developed by Cannes Lions alongside other initiatives to tackle the gender imbalance in the advertising industry and promote future female creative talents.
SIBI is open for women from all over the world and selects those who are on their way to becoming creative leaders in their companies. Historically, the scheme has been opened to women at creative agencies, although in recent years it was extended to include women in creative positions in other industries, as well. The alumni are set to become mentors to other women, thus helping build over time a global, industry-wide support network that can really create an impact on women’s careers.
Roxana was commended on her impressive list of awards throughout her career, especially for those linked to cause-marketing. The “Unquiet Voices” campaign for ANAIS Association is one of them – an extensively awarded project selected also for the Cannes Film Festival, which exposes the horrors of domestic violence by inviting women to share their stories and editing them as voiceovers to scenes of abuse in century-old silent movies.
This is the 7th edition of this outstanding curated executive learning programme, which offers exclusive mentoring sessions with industry leaders and access to the most influential figures in the business, within a close-knit international network of aspiring female creative directors. The VIP experience includes a complimentary Festival Pass, accommodation and travel, plus opportunities after the event, as well as profile building opportunities and support as a See It Be It Advocate.
Roxana said:
“It’s incredible to be included in the See It Be It initiative, particularly when I look at the profiles of those with whom I’m sharing the honour this year. Being mentored by some of the most talented women in our industry will be a fantastic opportunity for my career. I am thrilled to also be able to apply the new learnings in the future and coach others, in return.”
Mihai Gongu, ECD at Cheil, adds:
“Roxana is not just one of the most talented creatives the region has to offer, but also a relentless mentor, and I believe the Romanian creatives that she will be mentoring as a SIBI alumni will greatly benefit from this unique experience.”
Roxana graduated the Art Directors Club Romania Academy and, after winning the local Cannes Young Lion competition in 2012, was selected to represent Romania at the ADC Europe’s Creative Express program; she also graduated the Eurobest Young Digital Academy. She has worked as a creative in advertising for the past nine years and has dozens of local and international awards at shows, the likes of Cannes Lions, LIA Awards, Golden Drum, D&AD, One Show, FIBRA, and others.
SIBI is the Cannes Lions initiative working towards equal gender representation in creative directors across the industry. The SIBI Chair is Madonna Badger, Founder and CCO at Badge & Winters, 2016 Advertising Age Small Agency Winner, specializing in creating emotional connections with women.
