Romanian Music Export will have an online edition on January 31, 2021
After a year poor in events, with a cultural sector in great difficulty and with unclear prospects for 2021, professionals in the music and entertainment industry in Romania are in great need of guidance, solutions and meetings for the current and future challenges. In this context, Romanian Music Export, one of the first Romanian programs in the entrepreneurial area that assumes the mission of promoting and exporting music at European level, will launch on January 31st, 2021 Romanian Music Export Online. The event has a TV show format, consisting of live and recorded discussion panels with Romanian and foreign speakers, relevant to the industry and Romanian band showcases.
Support for growing Romanian artists domestically and internationally
Romanian Music Export has been developed as a promotional program meant both to identify and support new coming Romanian artists, and to support them in growing their national and international careers. RME provides a stage for new voices and talents, through the platform that aims to bring together young artists, music industry professionals, festival directors and audiences, believing that music is that universal binder that unites, heals and motivates.
Romanian Music Export came to life at the second edition of the East European Music Conference, on July 26th, 2018, an event in which producers, booking agents, promoters and cultural operators from Romania and Europe attended a show supported by five Romanian bands, selected after a prior registration on the platform built especially for this program.
Any band from Romania could register, provided that the registered songs were original creations. The judging had two stages, the pre-selection being made locally, while the final selection of the five bands had an international jury. 71 artists entered the competition and the bands Am Fost La Munte Și Mi-a Plăcut, Gramofone, JazzyBIT, NEXT EX and White Walls performed exceptional showcases, and during the breaks they answered the questions and inquiries of the press and booking agents from major festivals in Europe.
Romanian Music Export Online prepares the ground for future offline events
The online edition of January 31st is essential for the continuation of the Romanian Music Export program and in making possible the live offline edition of 2021, due to the unprecedented situation created by the coronavirus pandemic, that forced the cancellation, postponement or reorientation of all events and cultural activities online. The RME digital platform is created for Romanian artists, especially those on the rise, with a vital need for guidance and support during this period without concerts and without payments, and with a constant want for partners to discuss with possible solutions for rebuilding their careers in the near future.
The online event will consist of 10 discussion panels, including Can music help us thrive? / Music heals us, Health & Safety post pandemic events reopening, Freelance musician or artist? Can it be done?, Music industry solutions for the reopening of cultural life, How do festival bookers choose newcomers for their line-up ?, The future of clubs and small concert venues and Women in music industry.
