UPDATED: Romanian Effie 2012: Graffiti BBDO – biggest number of prizes and Grand Effie

Graffiti BBDO is this year’s big winner at the Romanian Effie Awards 2012. At Monday night’s gala, Grafitti BBDO received honors for Pepsi “Today. The same as yesterday” campaign – one Gold Effie in “Non-alcoholic Beverages” category and this year’s Grand Effie award.
In Effie’s 22 categories, this year’s jurors awarded 41 prizes – 6 Gold, 15 Silver and 20 Bronze Effies -, with 19 agencies or clients receiving accolades.
With Gold Effies were also awarded McCann Erickson Romania with “Romanians are smart” for Rom Autentic, Sister&Co with “Achieving leadership” campaign for Bucegi, Ogilvy&Mather Romania with “Smiley’s Garage” for the telecom brand Cosmote, Papaya Advertising and “Time to listen” for Cosmote and CAP with “ING Bank. For Grown-ups” for ING.
Graffiti BBDO received 8 awards (1 Grand Effie, 1 Gold, 4 Silver and 2 Bronze), followed closely, with 6 awards (1 Silver and 5 Bronze), by Leo Burnett&Target, McCann Erickson & Universal McCann (4 awards). Grey Romania, Publicis and Ogilvy&Mather went home with 3 awards each.
Other agencies that made it to the Effie awards list were: The Geeks, Arsenoaiei&Matasel, GMP Advertising, Webstyler, Propaganda and Cohn&Jansen JWT.
Leo Burnett Group was one of the winners at Monday’s Romanian Effies Gala, with 6 of group’s agencies going home with 9 trophies. The awarded agencies were Leo Burnett, Starcom Media Vest Group, iLeo, The Practice, 23 Communication Ideas and The Geeks.

G2 Romania also went home with 3 trophies, all in Shopper Marketing category, with campaigns for P&G and Vodafone.
The campaign for Procter & Gamble made in Real stores managed to contribute to increase sales for Pampers and to improve public perception over this category of products. G2 team working on this campaign included Alina Varlanuta, Laslzo Pap, Raluca Samoila, Oana Mustareata, Mihai Draghici, Florian Gheorghe, Ana-Maria Ciobotaru, Diana Serban, Cristina Ungureanu, Dana Pascu, Annabella Orosz, Dorina Sandu.
For “Caravane” campaign, for Vodafone, G2 team that was involved included Andrei Nedea, Romulus Petcan, Bogdan Teodorescu, Marius Negrea, Vlad Gheorghiu, Alex Petrescu, Alina Buzatu, Adriana Staicu, Mihaela Badara, Mircea Pascu, Monica Gheorghe, Dorina Sandu and Mihai Sava.
The 2nd P&G awarded campaign, that ran in Selgros stores, involved a G2 team that included Alina Varlanuta, Laszlo Pap, Raluca Samoila, Marius Manolache, Florian Gheorghe, Ana-Maria Ciobotaru, Maria Stefanita, Mihai Draghici, Cristina Ungureanu, Dana Pascu, Alina Buzatu and Dorina Sandu.
Another winner at Monday’s Gala was CohnandJansen JWT, that was awarded a Silver Effie for the most important NGO brand in Romania, SMURD (Romanian paramedics). The agency was awarded for “The Chase” campaign, in “Non-profit / pro bono, public service campaigns” category.
SMURD is the most known Romanian NGO and, definitely, this year we had an unprecedented attention from the public. The most beautiful part in advertising is when you work for important brands, with important mission, therefor I am glad we can participate in this successful project

The creative concept was built in a natural way around real situations and tried to make public conscient, in a very realistic manner, about the urgent need of a health emergencies plane and also how important is each person’s donation in buying this plane. It is very important that Romanians would perceive the importance of redirecting taxes (2% from their income taxes), it is important for them to realize they can make extraordinary things – save human lives

Each of campaign’s communication materials ends with a call to action: “Don’t let the distance to the hospital become incurable! Redirect towards SMURD the 2% taxes to buy an emergency health plane. Help us shorten distances to make lives longer”.
SMURD campaign was also supported by Saga – production house, together with Radu Jude – director, that helped pro bono when it came of making the TV ad. In the campaign was also involved the media agency Starcom.
The team from CohnandJansen JWT involved in the campaign included Andreea Lupu – Account Director, Alex Stanciu – Senior Art Director, Andrei Ignat – Senior Copywriter, Ilinca Dumitrescu – A/V Production Director, Cristian Dobre – Production Manager, Mihai Gheorghe – DTP and Gabriela Gheorghe – DTP.
Propaganda didn’t miss the stage at this edition of Effies either and received accolades, for the 5th year in the row, and received a Bronze Effie with Napolact and “Napolact – cheese assortments from Taga cave”. Previously, Propaganda and Napolact were present on Effies stage in 2008 (Silver Effie), 2009 (Silver Effie), 2010 (Gold Effie & Effie for Sustained Success) and 2011 (Silver Effie).
We are very happy and proud in the same time that we continued this year also the tradition of winning an Effie with Napolact. This year’s Effie is another confirmation, for us, that we managed to build a brand that has a sustained success and this on a territory harder and harder to approach and defend, the one of tradition. If, in the start, we were the only ones, now there are more and more brands crowding in this segment, claiming a part of it
