Romanian State TV to close a partnership with Euronews to broadcast it in Romanian
Romanian State TV (TVR) is in discussion to close a partnership with pan-European news TV Euronews to broadcast in Romania the Euronews channel in Romanian, PaginadeMedia.ro writes.
Through a contract signed with Euronews, TVR receives the international version of the news segment and the permission to translate and broadcast this segment in Romanian, on its channels.
The launch of Euronews – TVR Info will be made after TVR’s restructuring and activity reorganization process will end, in November.
The media partnership sees TVR Info’s frequency split between Euronews journalistic content and own informative shows, made by TVR News’ Department.
The announcement on the partnership was made by Claudiu Saftoiu, president general manager of SRTV, at the Euronews World Conference that took place on Tuesday, marking 20 years of presence on European market of Euronews, Mediafax writes.
“The prestigious partnership TVR-Euronews represents a 1st for Romanian Public TV service in Romania, by affiliating TVR to European journalistic principles and values and fulfilling TVR”s mission to open the Romanian viewer towards European realities and actuality”, says a press release quoted by Mediafax.
SRTV is member in Euronews since October 18th 2004. Euronews’ news and programs director is the Romanian journalist Lucian Sarb.
Euronews just announced its expansion in Greece and Hungary, MandMGlobal writes. The Greek channel will be Euronews’ 12th language channel, with the Athens office scheduled to open in December 2012 and operated with a team of 40 journalists. The Hungarian office will be opened in Budapest in the first quarter of 2013.
The newly-launched newsrooms will bring Euronews’ total to 14 worldwide, in addition to Lyon, Brussels, Cairo, Doha, Kiev, London, Moscow, Paris, Rome, Washington, Istanbul and Dubai.
