Romanian-born Oana Lungescu, the new NATO’s spokesperson

Romanian-born Oana Lungescu, journalist of the UK BBC channel, will be the new Spokesperson of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO), as 2 of her colleagues from BBC announced on Twitter.

1st to announce the news on Twitter was Anca Toader, UK-based documentary maker and media trainer at the BBC CoJo International, as her Twitter profile informs. The same information was also announced by Neal Razzell, also working with BBC, making documentaries for BBC World Service radio.

The information appeared on Romanian twitter accounts and in Romanian press.

According to Romanian press, the information was confirmed by NATO. Oana Lungescu will take over the office from James Appathurai, the incumbent spokesperson for NATO whose term in office expires in late November.

According to BBC, Oana Lungescu has reported on EU and NATO enlargement from Brussels since January 1997. She left Romania in 1985 and  she joined BBC’s Romanian section and went on to cover painful transition to democracy in Romania and the former Soviet Republic of Moldova, BBC reports.
