Ioana Avadani, Romanian Center for Independent Journalism, awarded by European Parliament

Ioana Avadani, Executive Director of Romanian Center for Independent Journalism, was declared winner and awarded the Prize of European Citizen 2013 by the chancellery of European Citizen Prize within European Parliament.

Ioana Avadani was proposed for this prize by MEP Renate Weber (ALDE), for her efforts to professionalize the mass-media representatives in Romania, to promote the institutional transparency and her activity to promote the independence of press and the protection of journalists rights

Annually, European Parliament is giving the European Citizen Award, a distinction offered to European citizens or organizations that showed qualities or had exceptional activities in the benefit of the European common interest.

The other Romanian winners of this year’s prize are Valeriu Nicolae and Elena Nistor.
