Lučka Peljhan, Golden Drum Competition Director:
We are really excited to see such an important and significant growth from independent agencies, including this year, and at the same time significant growth from entrants from the Adriatic region, clearly stating that there is a significant creative potential and local inspiration, wanting to get recognized by the world’s elite.
Off Drum Competition Ljubljana Poster Award received 168 entries, which is almost 2 times more than last year, while submited entries from the region competing for Adriatic Golden Drum Award grew by 46 % compared to last year to 140 entries.
27 different agency networks submitted their entries in the Golden Drum competition (25 last year), while notable increase is associated with independent agencies (442 entries this year, 46 more than last year).
From 26 countries competing this year, Turkey submitted the most entries despite challenging times (158) – still the highest decline of submitted entries; closely followed by Russia (147) whose number of entries has grown significantly this year compared to last year. The highest growth of number of submitted entries has been recorded in Croatia and Georgia. After several years, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo are this year’s new entrant countries.

In the Best Practice section the most submitted entries are in the groups Public Relations (73), Activation programme (64) and Branded Content (60), while in Best Piece section-leading group is Press (147), followed by groups Film (146) and Out of Home (132).
This year the new group Capture of local spirit was also established, which represents one of the significant novelties implemented and designed to incorporate the creative spirit of the area. 42 creative solutions, based on the local spirit of an area, will compete for the award “Best capture of local spirit”.
This year’s entries will be judged by two juries of 22 top internationally recognized experts from creative industry. Graham Lang, Chief Creative Officer, Y&R Advertising, South Africa & Africa, is Best Piece Jury President and Eduardo Marques, Executive Creative Director, 180LA, California, is the Best Practice Jury President.
