There are no quotas for awards at D&AD. Therefore the number of awarded entries fluctuates year to year. Some years no Black Pencils are awarded: the record currently stands at just six. Traditionally the toughest of the awards shows, the judging process is famously rigorous, with the juries only selecting work they believe is truly exceptional.
D&AD President Bruce Duckworth:
Over 220 international creative leaders have come to judge the D&AD Professional awards this year and I am thrilled to see the range of Pencils on day one of results. Even at this early stage we are delighted to see the fantastic quality of work coming through from all around the world. Watch this space for even more tomorrow.
