Former research Director Cambridge Analytica, Chris Wylie to speak at Bucharest’s How to Web
How To Web 2018, a tech event with CEE reach and importance organized in Bucharest, announced a new international speaker for this year’s edition, Chris Wylie, former Research Director Cambridge Analytica who became widely known this spring after unveiling the psychological tactics used by his company in order to influence the presidential election in US in 2016 .
Graduate of London School of Economics, Wylie is researcher and data scientist who worked as senior adviser both for the British and Canadian governments and has an extensive experience in using tech in order to improve communication and citizens’ involvement. Taking the stage at How to Web 2018 during event’s first day, he will speak about how tech influences democracies at global level.
He is the former Research Director from Cambridge Analytica, part of SCL Group, company that was commissioned by UK Army and specialized in informational war. In that quality, Chris witnessed the way in which culture, information and algorithms were transformed in weapons used by armies, governments and companies to undermine elections all over the world. In 2018, he worked with The Guardian and New York Times to publicly expose the way personal data of Facebook users were exploited and used against ordinary citizens.

How to Web was launched in 2010 and became fast one of the most important tech events in CEE. Starting this year, the conference is running under the umbrella of ANIS (Patron Association of Software and Services Industry).
