Romania: 5 start-ups financed with Euro 100K at Innovators for Children 2020 gala
After the Innovators for Children final, organized by Impact Hub Bucharest, Botnar Foundation and Impact Hub Basel, there were selected 5 winners from the 10 finalists that presented pitches. The winning start-ups are KIDoc, Emoface, AutismON (Help Autism Association), Peditel and Brio.
The online event ended the period of selection for the start-ups that will go further in the program to accelerate the solutions dedicated to improve the life of children and teenagers in Romania
Brio obtained Euro 30.000 financing and is a platform of scientifically solutions to improve the school performance for Romanian language and Maths targeting students, parents, educators, schools and other institutions involved in the Romanian education. Tested by over 18,000 students, Brio aims to develop a practice instrument for the students from 1st to 12th grade so they can test, exercise and accumulate knowledge they need.
Peditel ranked 2nd and was financed with Euro 20.000. This startup is a free pediatric medical assistance service, via telemedicine (mobile app, video call, chat, phone). With the received financing, Peditel gets to the next level and becomes an integrated medical hub with telemedicine, allowing to over 150.000 children to have access to pediatric medical assistance, non-stop, anywhere and anytime.
AutismON, a project from Help Autism Association, also got Euro 20,000 financing and it is the first online center that is covering the needs of autistic children and their families on their journey to achieving the development potential. The platform will represent a big chance for families that are living in towns and villages where there are no specialists to help.
Emoface received Euro 15.000 financing and it is an educative app for learning emotions and improve the social abilities of children with autism. The app targets independent specialists, organizations and families that are working and care of autism children.
Also financed with Euro 15,000, KIDoc is a medical app created for parents of children with chronical diseases. It offers assistance in real time in administrating medication to prevent any mistakes, info regarding the latest treatments and personalized medicine solutions, and fast access to all medical documents in digital format. The first iteration of the prohect will target epileptic children, as in Romania there are over 40,000 children diagnosed with this disease.
Programs mentors who assisted the teams and designated the winners were Oana Craioveanu (Impact Hub Bucharest), Ionuț Pătrăhău (SeedBlink), Sabina Antoci (Vodafone Romania Foundation), Diana Certan (Concordia Romania Humanitarian Organization), Adelina Dondorici (Parenting Ads) and Adina Crețu (Startarium).
