As international press already wrote, WebKino will soon be launched in April, when prize-winning movie “Periferic” will be released online, where will be available in high definition, in exchange for a fee.

“Periferic”, directed by Bogdan Geoge Apetri, tells the story of a young prison inmate played by Ana Ularu, who gets provisional release for 24 hours and plans to leave the country.

The online launch will take place simultaneously with the launch in cinemas, on April 1st.

We decided on this unique experiment because of the paradoxical situation in Romania: though more and more people want to see Romanian movies, they just cannot watch them because there are no cinemas where they live”, Dragos Stanca, manager Q2M,s aid, according to AFP.

Dragos Stanca gave more details in a post on his personal blog. He explains WebKino is not a Q2M project, but an experiment that can turn into a project to be developed by Stanca together with Cristian Mungiu and Voodoo Films.

Also, he mentions that Q2M will hanfle the sales, marketing and communication for  WebKino, while the technical part will be developed by Publyo.

“WebKino will not be “from the start” a complex technical and editorial project, the launch of the 1st movie  – “Periferic” – will be an experiment from which, as I hope, we will learn some things that will allow us to develop the concept properly in the future”, Stanca writes.

When it started its activity on Romanian market, Q2M was presented initially as an interactive full service agency and ad sales house.
