Sorin Ovidiu Vintu, Romanian media owner, arrested

Romanian media owner Sorin Ovidiu Vintu and his employee, Ion Ilie Cezar, were accused of blackmailing the manager of  Realitatea Media TV station, Sebastian Ghita. They will be placed under 29-day preventive arrest, according to a final ruling from Bucharest Court.

According to Mediafax, the decision comes after Vintu and Cezar were previously detained for 24 hours,  on April 20.

Vintu owns Realitatea-Catavencu, a group of media companies which includes Realitatea Media. Ghita owns the Asesoft IT group, which in October last year took over the management of Realitatea Media.
