McCann Erickson and Dedeman won Grand Effie at Romanian Effies

Effie Romania awarded its 8th edition winners during an awards Gala that took place on Monday.
Dedeman and McCann Erickson Romania won the Grand Effie for “Every Change Helps”, that also won Gold in Retail category.
Effies are awarding the campaigns that earned excellent results based on creative ideas and innovative strategies.
Competition’s jury awarded 37 trophies in 17 categories and Grand Effie: 10 Gold, 18 Silver and 10 Bronze.
The agencies and companies awarded at 2011 Romanian Effies are 23 Communication Ideas&Heineken Romania, BrandTailors, Bridge Communication, CAP, Cohn & Jansen JWT, Cohn&Jansen on behalf of Scala JWT, GAV, GMP Advertising, Graffiti BBDO, Grey Worldwide Romania, Leo Burnett & Target Romania, McCann World Group Romania, Next Advertising, Odyssey Communication, Ogilvy&Mather Romania, OgilvyOne, Papaya Advertising, Propaganda, Publicis Romania, Sister & Co, Webstyler.
The agencies with the biggest number of won trophies are Graffiti BBDO and McCann Erickson Romania – five each.
Graffiti BBDO received 3 Bronze awards ( in Durables for Dacia – “Agent Dacia avantaj”, in Non-profit/ Pro-Bono, Public service campaigns for BAT – “Upgraded City” and in Telecommunications Internet & Data for Romtelecom Clicknet – “Telcu Family 3D Clicknet”), 1 Silver (in Telecommunications Voice offers for Telcu Family 3D Voce – “Telcu Family 3D Voce”) and a Gold (in Non-profit/ Pro-Bono, Public service campaigns for Salvează Vieţi – “Don’t Ignore Me” campaign).
The biggest number of awards won by a Romanian communication group, present in 4 different categories and excellence for Non-profit/Pro bono, public service, where Graffiti BBDO won both Bronze and Gold Effie, confirms our work in the last years and prove that we have expanded competences, that bring significant results for our clients campaigns

McCann Erickson won 2 Gold trophies (in Telecommunications Internet & Data for Vodafone – “The Wedding” and in Retail for Dedeman – “Every Change Helps”) and 2 Silver, both for Rom – “American Rom” in Food Products and Media Efficiency). The Grand Effie trophy for Dedeman adds to those.
I’ve said before that Romanian advertising needs leadership and that, in economical crisis, winners will be those brands that maintain consistency and continue to innovate. ROM and Vodafone – Wedding are campaign that many considered an experiment when they appeared – now the Effies are confirming the efficience of those unconventional approaches. Dedeman is a special case, a local client that invested and built a brand during crisis, defying crisis, and here it was rewarded.
